Our story
Love story and passion for wine started in 2014
Gogu Winery is a story of love and passion for wine that began in 2014, when the founder and winemaker, Ilie Gogu, decided to experiment in the field of home winemaking after graduating from the Technical University of Moldova as a technologist engineer in winemaking. Located in Causeni, the home winery was born from simple equipment for amateurs and from the desire to create quality wines that emphasize the particularities of the local terroir. In 2011, Gogu Winery officially becomes a registered small wine producer, and the company begins to modernize its equipment. The first professionally produced wines appeared on the shelves in 2014 and quickly attracted the attention of wine lovers. Later, gold and silver medals were won at various prestigious international competitions such as Berliner Wine Trophy, Asian Wine Trophy, Mundus Vini, International Wine Contest Bucharest and others.
About us
In 2017, next to the production department located right in the yard of the Gogu family house, a tasting room was built, where we welcome visitors and offer them our range of wines for tasting in combination with traditional cuisine.
The Gogu Winery vineyards are located in the Causeni district close to the actual winery, which is approximately 75 km from Chisinau. From a geographical point of view, this area is part of the Stefan Voda region, which includes winemakers from the south-east of Moldova. The combination of a large number of sunny days and the hilly relief creates a unique terroir, which influences the practicality of any grape variety grown in this region.

Brand philosophy:
The strong roots cause the appearance of quality grapes, worthy of turning into a select wine. Like the roots, the wine maker always finds the balance between traditions, the experience of the ancestors and new technologies to obtain an unrepeatable product. It is this trait that gives Gogu Winery wines character and delicacy. Centuries of tradition is concentrated in each glass, which goes back several generations and offers you their most valuable creation.

The history of the winemaking company “GoguWinery” begins 4 generations ago in the Gogu family. The founder of the winery, Ilie Gogu, is a winemaker by inheritance, who translated the dream of his ancestors into life. After coming to the head of the family business, he invested heavily in vineyards and technologies to obtain quality family wines.
It should be noted that Ilie is known to a greater extent not as a businessman, but as a valuable winemaker. Before founding the family business, Ilie traveled a difficult path, which began with specialized studies in wine technology and continued with 10 years of experience as a technologist – head at one of the largest wine companies in Moldova.
Under Ilie’s supervision, the long process of creating wine takes place – from planting the vine cuttings and picking the grapes to bottling. He watches every stage of production and makes maximum efforts to obtain a select, high-quality product.
The company’s vineyards are located in the most suitable wine-making area in Moldova – the south-east of the country. Every year, increasing the areas with vines, the company «GoguWinery» is guided by the main rule – the production of select, quality and exclusive wines. For this reason, the number of bottles produced is usually limited.
From the moment of its launch on the market in 2014, Ilie’s wines immediately received the highest appreciation from national and international experts. Thus, in 2015, they were awarded two gold medals at the Asia Wine Trophy 2015, but also at the International Wine Contest Bucharest 2015.

“GoguWinery” starts 4 generations ago in the Gogu family from Căușeni. The founder of the winery, Ilie Gogu, translated the dream of his ancestors into life. After coming to the head of the family business, he invested heavily in vineyards and technologies to obtain quality family wines.
It should be noted that Ilie is known to a greater extent not as a businessman, but as a valuable winemaker. Before founding the family business, Ilie traveled a difficult path, which began with specialized studies in wine technology and continued with 10 years of experience as a technologist – head at one of the largest wine companies in Moldova.
The company’s vineyards are located in the most suitable wine-making area in the Republic of Moldova in the south-east of the country on an area of ten hectares. It produces up to fifty thousand bottles annually.
From the moment it was launched on the market in 2014, Gogu Winery’s wines immediately received the highest appreciation at various international competitions where it won over 50 gold and silver medals.
The wines are exported to more than ten countries around the world.
